Rumble in the Jungle- Human Librarian

This book was recommended to me by my elementary school librarian, and I am so glad that she recommended it to me.  For a children’s poetry book, this has to be one of my favorites!  The book moved very quickly and was easy to read!  The book was filled with detailed pictures and colors; I was really impressed by this.  I also really liked how many animals were mentioned throughout this book.  Sometimes when I read poetry books I can get overwhelmed by the rhymes but the wording in this book was very creative and the author did a very good job with it!

The Story of Ruby Bridges- Human Teacher

This book was recommended to me by my 5th grade teacher and I love that she recommended this to me because I had read it in her classroom, and she had mentioned how this is one of her all-time favorites.  When I reread this book, it was obvious to me why she loves this book so much.  The main character, Ruby is such a strong female character.  The setting of this book takes place during the times of segregation and Ruby is one of the first African American girls to attend school.  When I read this book I instantly though about the Martin Luther King Jr book I read in high school.  What I love most about this book is as you read it you can really feel sympathy to Ruby and the hardships she is facing.  Additionally, this book is based on a true story so it just adds such a different feel to the mood of the story.

The Hero of the Little Street- Human Teacher

My second grade teacher recommended this book to me and said that her children love to read it.  This graphic novel is a series of books, but this one was her favorite.  Although I prefer to read books with words on the pages, I really enjoyed this wordless book.  I like how as the reader you can determine the outcome of the story and are able to use your own imagination to figure it out! The illustrations of this novel were incredible. I loved looking at the different perspectives and colors used throughout this picture book, it helped to get a better understanding of what the author was getting at.  I am really glad that I was able to have this book recommended to me, and I want to get the other books in this series.
